ANOTHER CHANGE IN DEVELOPMENT

BADMINTON England HEAD of DEVELOPMENT – George Wood

George, who was formerly BADMINTON England’s Coaching Manager, has been enticed back from Sport England. He took over his role as Head of Development in September 2007.

He was with BADMINTON England for seven years until the summer of 2006 before joining Sport England as a Senior Client Manager within the National Sport Team.

 

REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – NORTH EAST – Sheila Boyes

Sheila, who was the Tees Valley BDO from Nov 05, became the new RDM for the North East in May 2007.

Sheila, who is one of nine RDMs employed by BADMINTON England, is responsible for the Tees Valley, Durham and Northumberland areas.

 

BADMINTON DEVELOPMENT OFFICER – TEES VALLEY & DURHAM – Steve Blenkinsopp

Steve has just been appointed as the new BDO (May 2008).

Steve will be employed by BADMINTON England and is a part time post. (20 hours per week). Steve will primarily be covering the Tees Valley area and the northern part of Durham County – Sunderland/Washington areas.

 

BADMINTON COMMUNITY SPORT COACHES – Stephanie Barwick, Matthew Train & Martin Lamb

Stephanie & Matthew are both students at the University of Teesside studying Sport Science. Their part time post (30 hours per month between the two of them) is funded through a number of local partners, Badminton England and Tees Valley Sport.

Their role is to promote and develop badminton in primary schools in the Tees Valley area (Not including Hartlepool).

 

Martin will be the Community Sports Coach in Hartlepool.

He is employed by Hartlepool Schools Sports Partnership and will work with the Tees Valley team in also promoting & developing Badminton in Hartlepool’s schools.
