COACH EDUCATION COURSES

BADMINTON England Coaching Courses are run in conjunction with Teesside Badminton Development Association.

The Programme for 2008/09 is as follows. (Updated 14^th November 2008).

UKCC Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Badminton (Assistant Coach)

The dates for the next Level 1 Course are as follows: -

Phase 2 – Sunday 1^st February 2009. 9.30 am to 5.30 pm.

Phase 4 – Sunday 15^th February 2009. 9.30 am to 5.30 pm.

Phase 6 – Sunday 1^st March 2009. 10.00 am to 3.00 pm

The venue is Unity City Academy, Ormesby Road, Middlesbrough, TS3 8RE.

The Level 1 course takes place over a minimum period of 3 weeks with 2 days of taught delivery plus an assessment day, with periods of self-directed learning in between.

PHASE	CONTENT	LENGTH
Phase 1	Induction and pre-course activities	2 weeks
Phase 2	Taught programme – including elements of internal assessment	1 day
Phase 3	Mid-course study and on-going internal assessment	2 weeks**
Phase 4	Taught programme – including elements of internal assessment	1 day
Phase 5	Post taught programme self directed learning	1 week**
Phase 6	Assessment of practical coaching (Independent)	½ - 1 day

** These are minimum timescales for delivery and can be extended if required. They are set to ensure that candidates have sufficient time to complete the mid-course home study as well as some coaching practice in order to work to action plans.

The BADMINTON England Coaching Awards are now part of the United Kingdom Coaching Certificate (UKCC) and are on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

You will then need to complete and return the Level 1 Registration Form, along with payment, to Steve Blenkinsopp.

The Cost of the UKCC Level 1 Course is £195.00. It may be possible to get part or all of this cost funded. Please speak to Steve for more details about what may be available.

Please note that the completed form & payment must be received at least 30 days before the start date of the course in order to guarantee your place.

Once you have returned this information, your place on the course will be confirmed and you will receive an Induction Pack from Badminton England before the course starts.

UKCC Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Badminton

The dates of the next Level 2 Course are as follows: -

Phase 2 – Sunday 18th January and Saturday 31st January 2009 – 9.30am to 6.00pm
Phase 4 – Sunday 8th February 2009 – 9.30am to 6.00pm
Phase 6 – Sunday 22nd March 2009 – 9.00am to 6.00pm

The venue is Northumbria University, Coach Lane Campus & City Centre Campus, Newcastle.

The Level 2 course takes place over a minimum period of 8 weeks with 3 days of taught delivery plus an assessment day, with periods of self-directed learning in between.
