BADMINTON England names
new chief executive
ADRIAN CHRISTY is BADMINTON England's new Chief Executive
and he will take up his appointment on September 11,
Adrian, 43, from Horsham in Sussex, is passionate about
sport, having started his career as a coach with the Millwall Football
Academy.
He then moved into administration and management before
working for the National Coaching Foundation. This was followed by a conscious
decision to gain experience in National Governing Bodies and led to him joining
the Lawn Tennis Association as the Sussex County Development Officer.
He was then headhunted by England Squash, where he has
since gained significant experience working at senior management board level
and has deputised for the chief executive on numerous occasions.
He has gained exposure to many of the issues that
BADMINTON England faces through his position as chair of the Racquet Sports
Group.
He told BADMINTON England staff: "I am absolutely
delighted to accept the post of Chief Executive and to be able to lead an
organisation with such stature and reputation.
"I am really looking forward to the prospect of
meeting you all and to enjoy learning about what is going on from people based
at head office as well as those in the regions.
"There is a big challenge ahead for us all and in
order to meet that I will be drawing on the talent and knowledge held by
individuals and mould that into a team culture that will enable us to build
collectively on the foundations that exist.
" I am passionate about delivering success and
my aim over the months and years ahead is to build and deliver a sport that is
capable of achieving at all levels of the game."
